Levels of Play
Players should self-select their appropriate level of play. (See Skill-Level Ratings Posted)
Be Self Aware
😊 Pickleball, as in all sports, is more enjoyable when teams pair off with teams of near equal ability.
😊 If you are being outplayed or losing consistently, try different partners or consider moving down to improve your game.
😊 If you're winning consistently with different partners, consider moving up to challenge yourself.
😊 REMEMBER: You can improve your game by playing at ALL skill levels, practicing your shots, and drilling. To advance your game, find an experienced person willing to help you improve.

HPBC Level of Play Courts are Designated as:
😊 Novice/Mid-level and inexperienced players looking for recreational play.
😊 Intermediate/Mixed - Open to all levels. Transitional mixed courts are intended for players to "mix it up" with other skill levels to "play up" and "play down" to get to know each other and help develop better players at every level.
😊 Advanced/Upper Intermediate - Experienced and skilled players looking for a higher level of competition.
During club hours, courts will be designated by skill level:
😊 One court lower/novice court—players stay until comfortable playing on the mixed/all-level courts, rotating out for similar lower-skilled players.
😊 Up to three challenge courts (intended for Advanced/Upper Intermediate players) – Starting at court #2, add court #1 if needed, and add court #8 if needed. Winning players may stay with the same partner for up to three games. Losers leave. Players rotate through the paddle queue on the right side of fence.
😊 Remaining: mixed/all-level courts – first game on the court, losing players leave and winning players stay for one more game. After that first game, all players play two games regardless of win or loss. Players can mix or remain with the same partner. Players rotate through the paddle queue on the left side of fence.
